Becoming a Psychologist at Boise Bible College

Becoming a psychologist can be hard but rewarding work. Students who study psychology learn the behaviors and mental processes of people. However, a psychology degree coupled with a strong Bible degree gives students extra support to help heal this aching world.

Although many colleges offer a psychology degree, Boise Bible College offers a unique Christian psychology degree that helps students towards the psychology career of their choice, because BBC emphasizes the whole person. So, the student in this program will not only learned the vocation, but how to lovingly confront the ills and ailments of our world with powerful biblical truths.

“As we study the Bible, we can find many truths from the world of psychology that dovetail with the timeless truths of the Bible – thus we are preparing our students to not just “do-no-harm,” but do the very best good!”

Rich Schell, Professor of Christian Psychology

The world needs more Christian psychology majors, because people will always be struggling with issues that deal with essential questions about life such as:

  • What is the meaning of life?
  • If there is a God, does He really care about me?
  • How do I navigate my child’s abuse problem?
  • Why is marriage so hard?
  • Why is there so much suffering in the world?

All of us are broken people trying to learn how to navigate this life. But, by being trained to help others navigate their brokenness you can point others towards Christ for complete healing.

Paths to Certification in Becoming a Psychologist:

Entering the psychology field, students must know that you cannot become a clinical psychologist or licensed counselor at an undergraduate level. So, many students gain a Master’s in Counseling or some other graduate degree in becoming a psychologist. Thus, this bachelor’s degree you chose helps prepare you for the graduate work you may or may not need for your field.

Alumni of Boise Bible College have gone to graduate programs at other Christian universities such as Johnson University, Milligan University, Multnomah University, Liberty University, Western Seminary as well as others.

However, there are some careers involving a psychology degree where a master’s degree is not necessary.

“I will be forever grateful for the professors at BBC. Their love for the gospel and Jesus was so evident in the way they taught scripture, encouraged us to dig deep with scripture we personally wrestled with, and the way they guided us in love and grace.”

Frank Ocampo, Christian Psychology Graduate, Founder of
