Adding a New Program plus Distance Learning

Boise Bible College has been in the process of rolling out a number of significant curricular changes designed to better prepare students for ministry in the 21st-century ministry context. The details of those changes were featured in a recent article in the College’s publication, Outreach. Many of those changes have already taken effect. However, a few are scheduled to roll out in the fall of 2022. The first is a tuition roll back. Also taking effect in the fall of 2022 will be the introduction of two types of remote learning options.

The Residency Program

The new Residency Program is for students wishing to dive deeper into experiential-based learning. This program at Boise Bible College is an outgrowth of our desire to offer students a way to combine real-world experience, effective coaching, and reflective observations to document field-based learning.

The Residency replaces nine to twelve credit hours of courses with four to seven months (depending on the program) being immersed in a ministry, classroom, or cross-cultural context. In addition, any classes needed to complete their degree will have remote options available.

The details and length of The Residency option vary by degree program. For example, the Intercultural Studies students will take the form of a “Semester Abroad.” For students in the Christian Teaching program, a semester of “student teaching” will be required. Lastly, church-based residencies will resemble extended internships.

Also starting in the fall of 2022, nontraditional students actively serving at their home church will have the option of enrolling in the following degree programs as remote learners. For remote learners, classes will be held at the same time as in-person classes.

We are excited for all the possibilities these two changes will inspire. Furthermore, we are excited to equip even more servant-leaders who build up the church and advance the gospel worldwide.
