Alumni Association

The BBC Alumni Association exists to minister to all graduates and former students of Boise Bible College. Membership is open to everyone who has completed at least 24 hours, and each year a donation of $20 is requested from each former student. The funds are used to provide scholarships each year, for projects such as providing “Study Bags” to students during finals week, and to communicate throughout the year.

The association’s Executive Committee consists of three officers (president, vice president and secretary/treasurer), alumni delegates and the director of development. The officers are elected on an annual basis at the Alumni Banquet in May. The officers meet regularly to plan and promote the association activities. The executive committee for 2009-2010 are:

• President – Andy Morris (’85), minister at First Christian Church, Gooding Idaho

• Vice President – Bill Williams,(’04), minister at Sunrise Christian Church, Ontario OR

• Secretary/Treasurer – Nick Duffel (’05), minister at Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian Idaho

• Alumni Delegate – Leon Rothauge, (’98), house parent at Christian Children’s Ranch, Eagle, ID

• Alumni Delegate – Melanie Twite, (’96), attending Ten Mile Christian Church, Meridian, ID

• BBC Representative – David Davolt, director of development at Boise Bible College 

Each year the association rewards Alumni Legacy scholarships of $1,000 each to qualified students. Students must apply for the funds.  The vision of the Alumni Association is to provide a scholarship to all deserving dependants or offspring of a BBC alumnus. In 2008-2009 four students were awarded $1,000 scholarships: Natalia Helt, Morgan Mascall, Zayne Mayfield, and Caleb Morris.. In 2009-2010 we expect to award four scholarships to deserving students.

Spring Conference 2009 marked the second silent auction sponsored by the Alumni Association. Items were provided by alumni, staff and community businesses. During Spring Conference bids were made by attendees. more than $2,400 was raised through the effort. The Alumni Association also sponsored a Golf Scramble that raised another nearly $2,000 through the generous contributions of supporting churches, businesses, and individuals. All these funds are used to award scholarships.

Spring Conference also is the time for the annual Alumni Gathering. This year a barbeque was held on the BBC campus Monday prior to conference. It was well attended, the food was good and a great time of fellowship was had by all. During the program, past graduates were recognized, and the new graduates were introduced. Each graduate was presented with a wooden cross signifying their year of graduation. The evening concluded with a time of honor for Dr. Beckman and his farewell address to alumni. He has been on staff and teaching since 1949! He will be missed. Plan to attend next year’s gathering on May 10, the Monday evening prior to the Spring Conference.

On May 15, a total of 18 four-year degrees, six associate degrees and six Bible Certificates were presented.

The Boise Bible College Alumni Association has these goals:

1. To provide information to alumni.

2. To involve alumni in recruitment and support of the college.

3. To minister to the needs of our alumni.

These three goals are carried out through the various alumni association activities.

Alumni News is carried in the college newsletter, The Outreach, and an Alumni newsletter is published semiannually. We encourage all alumni to communicate with the Development Department about your current and past ministries, your family events and plans for the future. Let us know where you are and what you are doing.
