Searching for ScholarshipsCheck close to home Scholarships are available from countless different organizations. Start with your local church; many churches have scholarship funds for students planning to attend Bible college. There may also be a regional scholarship fund for Bible college students, such as the Alexander Christian Foundation in Oregon or the Intermountain Christian Scholarship Fund in Colorado. If you or your parents are members of a civic organization or a fraternity or sorority, those groups may have scholarship funds available for members and their children. Your employer or your parents’ employer might also have scholarship funds for employees and their dependants. Your high school counselor’s office is a good place to check for scholarships. Some schools have college scholarship endowments for their alumni. Ask your high school counselor for a list of scholarships available to students at your school. Be wary of offers to locate scholarships for a fee. Many such offers are not legitimate searches, and often the scholarships they suggest could have been found through a free search.
