Financial Assistance

Philosophy of Financial Assistance

Our Purpose. It is the fundamental purpose of our financial aid program to help all qualified students obtain a Christian education at BBC. We do not believe our services should be reserved only for those who can afford to purchase them.

Student Responsibility. While the College will attempt to assist you, the primary responsibility for financing your education rests with you and your family. If you and your family will do your  best to meet your financial obligations, we will utilize every resource available to us to help you.

You are responsible for knowing the academic policies of the College, for maintaining your academic standing, keeping current on financial obligations, and meeting all graduation requirements. The academic dean or his secretary, your academic advisor, the student dean, and the business office are available to counsel you, but the final responsibility rests with you.

In-House Financial Assistance

Tuition Subsidies. Generous gifts from churches, alumni, and other dedicated Christians cover nearly two-thirds of the cost of operating the College and, in effect, constitute another gift scholarship. You will pay between one-half and one-third of the cost of your education. Our charges reflect this subsidy.

Grants-in-Aid.* Churches, alumni, and other interested individuals give the College grant funds which are designated for assistance to worthy students who have a financial need. These funds are grants—they do not have to be repaid. Click here for a list of endowments and other scholarship sources.

Scholarships.* BBC provides scholarships that are offered on the basis of academic or leadership qualities. BBC grants over $180,000 in scholarships annually. Click here for a list of BBC scholarships available. To apply for scholarships, e-mail or call the Financial Aid office at 1-800-893-7755. The deadline for applying for BBC financial aid each year is May 1. More scholarships are available for those who apply before February 15!

College Work-Study Program.* The College employs a few students on a part-time basis in the library, cafeteria, offices, and in custodial or maintenance work. Contact the Business Office for positions available.

Other Financial Assistance

Federal Programs.* The College has been approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the Pell Grant program, the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program, the Federal Work-Study (FWS) program, and the Stafford Loan fund program.  If you would like to apply for Federal Financial Aid, click on the following link:

State Programs.* Most state-guaranteed loans and grants are based on the College's being approved by the U.S. Department of Education to participate in the federal programs. You may be eligible for state assistance. Check with your local high school advisor regarding what is available in your home state.

Veterans and Social Security Assistance. Contact the nearest office of Veterans Affairs and the Social Security Administration to obtain the necessary certification of eligibility for assistance from these agencies.

Private Programs. Many churches, groups of churches, and other organizations sponsor scholarship programs for students seeking a Bible college education. Some information is available at the College, but you are encouraged to investigate the availability of funds from your local church. Click here for scholarship suggestions.

Job Opportunities

You may need to work part-time while at BBC. Jobs are available for those who make a serious effort to find them but they often pay only minimum wage, and public transportation is very limited in our area. Many stores, restaurants, offices, and other businesses wish to hire BBC students because of their good work records. Most afternoon and evening hours are free from classes to facilitate student employment. The student dean often has information regarding employers seeking to hire BBC students.
